Established in 1928, The Shack Neighborhood House has been providing programs to local “at risk” children, youth and families for over 80 years. The Shack’s mission is to provide an inclusive, safe, and fun environment for learning and recreation by nurturing children, youth and community members of all ages in Monongalia County and the surrounding areas. Programs include everything from parenting support groups to early childhood play groups to school aged after school programs and family fun nights. The Shack is proud to serve a very diverse group of families. Whether it be families from the Scott’s Run area or a new family hoping to meet some new friends at the weekly playgroup, the Shack Neighborhood House offers something for everyone.

The Connecting Link, Inc. specializes in coordinating emergency financial relief to families in need and being the go-to place for emergency resources. They effectively work with other agencies to provide the necessary resources to assist their clients to become self-sufficient members of their communities. Sometimes it is as simple as helping out with a family’s heating bill. Other times it requires extensive wrap-around services so a homeless family can successfully transition to a permanent home. In every case, The Connecting Link, Inc. works hard to use its limited funds efficiently while offering an empowering and humanizing experience to clients.
