Each year, the WV Women’s Commission hosts Women’s and Girls’ Day at the Legislature at the WV State Capitol Complex. This year’s event will be a completely pre-recorded virtual presentation, premiering on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. via https://m.facebook.com/WVaWomen, with other media viewing platforms to be announced. Teachers, students, individuals and organizations can register online for the free event at https://wvde.state.wv.us/forms/2021/girls-womens-day/. The event will also be shared on West Virginia Public Broadcasting that evening at 8:00 p.m.
The theme for the 2021 Women’s and Girls’ Day at the Legislature is “Our Past, Present, and Future.” The event will begin with "Our Past" that will include the WV Women’s History Month Kickoff Celebration in partnership with the Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs. "Our Present" will include presentations by WV legislators and explain the legislative process. "Our Future" will include a panel of women who will talk about their road to empowerment and provide insight on creating goals and becoming involved in your community and state.
