Description
You are cordially invited to join Discover the Real West Virginia Foundation (DRWV) and the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative (WVPEC) for an important presentation and discussion regarding the key trends affecting cyber and IT workforce development, and what is being done to help address barriers to filling in-demand tech jobs.
For several years, DRWV and WV Forward have been monitoring developments at the federal level to tackle a significant barrier to filling cyber/IT jobs in West Virginia: the substantial national backlog in security clearances, and the resulting lack of cleared individuals to fill critical jobs.
The state’s business leaders and educators now have the opportunity to learn more about the latest federal developments for cleared sectors, and the critical work being done to prepare the next generation of West Virginia’s workforce to fill these in-demand positions.
A series of panels comprised of industry leaders, researchers, government officials, and policy experts will highlight the following:
- Officials from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency will report on recent federal reforms to the security clearance process and what clearance-reliant businesses need to know moving forward.
- Leading educators will discuss current programs preparing students with the right skillsets to succeed in the tech economy including the new Simulated Workplace Initiative, WV Invests Grant Program, Startup WV, and more.
- Experts in technology entrepreneurship will showcase the Three Steps to Startup initiative and discuss emerging innovations and threats related to cybersecurity and identity security.
