The "Shedding Light Initiative" will be a series of informative seminars delivered by local law enforcement, and subject matter experts. The first installment will be on Human Trafficking -
This course is FREE to the public, and participants will learn:
-Who human traffickers are
-The different types of human trafficking
-Common tactics used by traffickers to capture victims
-What to do if you suspect trafficking is taking place.
This course will consist of two parts. Part one of this course will feature two guest speakers, both active community members in Morgantown. The first guest speaker is Troy Ball, a police officer for the City of Morgantown, and certified STAR Instructor (Small Town and Rural Training Series; Domestic Violent Train-The Trainer) as well as many other certifications.
The second guest speaker is Michele Perozich, who is the student/family specialist with Monongalia County Schools Alternative Education Programs, and is also an active participant in the West Virginia Human Task Force.
The second part of this course will be taught by our own Director of Training, Aaron Marko. Attendees will learn basic protection principals, and focus on developing better situational awareness.
