Encaustic painting is the process of using melted and pigmented beeswax to create exciting, luminous paintings. Led by Amy Schissel, WVU assistant professor in painting, this workshop covers a brief history of the ancient medium, making paints from scratch, mixing colors, adding other media like paper, photo-transfers, and thread, and working safely with your materials. Each participant will walk away with one or more ready-to-hang works. Materials included. Ages 16 and up. All skill levels. $25 for WVBG members, $35 for non-members.
