Promoting literacy in Monongalia County and across the Mountain State are the main goals behind the Power of the Purse fundraiser coming June 6 to the WVU Erickson Alumni Center. It runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Dozens of purses and other items will be featured in a silent auction during the event, and special guest Brooke Brown, wife of WVU Head Football Coach Neal Brown, will speak at the fundraiser. Proceeds will go to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Monongalia County.
The fundraiser is organized by Women United, an affiliate of United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties. More than 300 women in our community are part of Women United, which focuses on early childhood education initiatives in Mon and Preston counties. Last year, the group helped launch the Imagination Library in Mon County.
