Most of my professional career as an aquatic biologist I have been involved in the commercial production of fish (trout, catfish, talipia, sea bream, red fish, ornamentals) shrimp (Pacific white shrimp) and plants (lettuce, tomotoes, bok choy) for human consumption. My academic career of 11 years was with WVU working in aquaculture for the Extension Service and teaching undergraduates and graduate students. Since 2011 I have worked for Potesta & Associates on the environmental side (versus engineering) and also providing business development leads.

—Community outreach includes: Volunteer status with Girl Scouts of America and as a Executive Vice Chair of Generation Morgantown, in association with the Morgantown Area Partnership, participation in the Class of 2022 of Leadership Mon(ongalia), serving as a Eucharistic Minister and as an Usher at St. Mary Catholic Parish in Star City, Morgantown, WV and as the Grand  Knight at the St. Mary Star City Council of the Knights of Columbus, advocating for children’s rights to equal access to each loving, fit parent to be the standard after divorces/separations through equally shared parenting.

I am a technology specialist focusing on helping clients to increase productivity while reducing or eliminating unnecessary operational costs.  For more than twenty years, I have enjoyed serving my clients and helping them to achieve their technology goals but I have also made a lot of lifetime friendships along the way.  

Bethany Horneck is founder and president of Apis Creative. Since 1995, she has worked as a communications strategist, project manager, team leader, content developer, editor, and meeting and workshop facilitator. Hornbeck has worked in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She has also served on the board of directors for the National Association of Government Communicators, as an adult leader with Boy Scouts of America, and currently as a member of MAP’s Government Affairs Committee.
